as i sit at my desk correctin' 9th grade papers, i come across one that catches my attention.

a little background on the assignment:

今日のポイント it's ... for 人 to 動詞の原形
人 に とって to することは 。。。だ
it's ______ for me to ________

ex. it's convenient for me to ride a bicycle in Japan

so, most of them were pretty simple, ranging from "it's easy for me to speak Japanese" to "it's hard for me to play volleyball"

however, this one in particular, due to the recent events happenin' in china read something like this

"it's important for us to fight with china"

hmmm...not sure what to make of this. it's kinda funny yet a little disturbing.

mos burger just released their "pao" chicken & "pao" pork sandwiches. it's pronounced "pao" when read in japanese, but ya'll are probably more familiar as it bein' pronounced as "peking" (in peking duck).

so on my lunch break, i head over to mos burger near my house and am all ready to order the katsu sandwich. but when i get there and park my bike, i see this phat sign in front advertisin' this "pao" sandwich. so i was like, hmmm....maybe i'll try it. everyone else was too. the best way i can describe it is: peking duck bun, with peking duck sauce, grilled chicken with some other chopped vegetables. here's the website if ya can't picture what i'm talkin' bout.

well...it was my first classes with the 8th graders today. durin' the 2nd class, the kids were pretty out of hand and takin' advantage of yamamoto sensei. the normal stuff i just brush off, but when you start to disrespect the teacher, that's when it irks me. i usually don't blow up on the kids until at least the 2nd or 3rd month but today was an exception. i didn't yell but i did break it down to them. once they heard me angry (in japanese) they all went silent. yamamoto sensei proceeded to lecture them bout what they did and how they should deal with it. so after she finished, for about 35 min., yamamoto sensei didn't say a word. she pretty much stopped class after that. well...i hope things get better from here on.

some interestin' links:

- tiger (osx 10.4) is comin' out on da 29th!

- yagoohoogle, an interestin' site that displays the search results from both yahoo & google

- here's a link tri sent me. some pretty koo pics taken from da atmosphere. be sure to check out the tsunami pics

the last two finally went home yesterday. it felt kinda weird to be alone. these past 4 months have been hectic with visitors. now it's time for a much needed break. i'm not expectin' anybody until after i go back home to visit.

well, it's been about a week now @ my new school. i had my first class yesterday with the 9th graders. i must say, the classes are out of control. if this were my other 2 schools, the teacher would instantly discipline them. it seems that the teacher doesn't really care. i kno that it's still early, but, i hope it's not like this when the regular classes start.

another thing that i find frustratin' is that the student's don't wear name tags. i have a hard enough time tryin' to figure out/remember their names w/name tags. havin' about 550 students with no name tags is gonna be a challenge.

started practicin' with the bball team. they have some decent players. the pt. guard definitely has skills but he tends to be too fancy most of the time and doesn't protect the ball well. gonna be a challenge.

another little luxury that i've figured out @ school is that the sink in the teachers' room has a dial to set the temperature of the water! it's gonna be a lifesaver when winter comes.

the teachers seem to be nice but really haven't made a huge effort to even talk to me. it's mostly out of circumstance. but hey, it's still early.

well...it's finally the weekend. gonna try to clean up, do tons of laundry, play some more espn mlb 2k5 but most importantly, RELAX.

so til next time,

the past 2 weeks...

sorry for the lack of updates lately, it's been quite busy here. with friends visitin' and many other things goin' on, there's really only time for me to check email (which is quite rarely) and update my fantasy sports teams. it seems like my blog has taken 3rd on the list of priorities. other than that, i really need to catch up on some sleep. i really have no urge to pull an all-nighter again anytime soon. and now the update...

durin' my school's farewell party's nijikai, my digicam broke!?! the lens doesn't fully extend nor fully collapse. i kno for sure that i didn't drop it or anything. now, i need to get it fixed. luckily i have my new ketai that takes decent pics but i think i still need to get my cam fixed.

friends came in on the fri, but headed straight to osaka. it's efan's first time in japan and everyone else's second. somehow i got stuck with tony which is fine, and brandon which is fine also. but havin' them together is a struggle. it's yin & yang, night & day, east & west...get the point? also, finally got a chance to meet and kick it with zion i. they some really koo folks.

as for the show, it was off da hook. i haven't seen them perform live since the deep water slang release party @ slims so you can imagine how much i appreciated this event. got to hear the scojourners for the first time, too. it was kinda weird to see toby, cuz i haven't seen that guy probably since jhs. zion i as usual did not disappoint. they did some new tracks and some old tracks as well. steve gave a shout out to tony and buddhapparel and deuce gave one to q. i also was feelin' how they changed some tracks like silly puddy.

since i started school the next day, i came home from 'buya, showered and changed and was off to the openin' ceremony of my new school. i saw a lot of familiar faces which made it easier for me. even met a teacher who knows my father!?! my desk is with the 3rd year teachers. it's interestin', cuz i started off sittin' with the 1st year teachers for my first year, sat with the 2nd year teachers durin' my second year and now this. the first thing that i noticed was that the school is huge. just walkin' to the gym from the teachers' room was a trek. then, seein' all the 2nd & 3rd year students in the gym at once is more than my last school with all 3 years combined!?! the 1st year students weren't even there yet! the students are pretty out of control too. much to the words of pretty much all the teachers i consulted with.

another thing that was surprisin' to see was that there are a lot of young teachers. this school also has a bball team!!! they even have a boys vball team! it's gonna take some time to remember all the teachers' names. i wonder how long it'll be for the close to 600 students | ('.') |

and another very, very important thing is that they have a western style toilet! goin' one whole year without wasn't too bad. i probably could do without one but it's always peaceful to know that you have it, just in case.

so i got a call from my boss @ city hall. askin' me if he wanted me to go the welcome party for all the new people who started @ the board of education. the thing is tonite!? not that i can go or anything, but tellin' me the day of, well...it's a little short notice, no?

another thing that i found out was that one of my new students will be starrin in the newest kinpachi sensei drama. now i'm gonna have 2 students who appeared in the same show but at different times. it's kinda trippy if they become big.

headed out to shinjuku to meet up with: cal, eric & brandon. went to yu's event and then i bounced out early to head to b's. the next day was the big annual hanami (flower viewin'). when we got there, there were many spotters all asleep. luckily rick grabbed the bench. first guest was jt, who brought some mcdonalds with him. then it was eugene & satomi. slowly, more people came and by probably 1600, we had at least 40 ppl.

the most memorable things of the day:

- havin' front row seats to a big argument (almost turned into a fight) over hanami mats between a foreigner and some japanese guys.

- the park police regulatin' on ropes ppl put up to save space.

- bein' able to play around with my 2 nephews

- havin' it "rain" cherry blossom flowers

- the interesting "conversation" with rie

- the 6 or 7 times that i walked from our spot to the front to pick up people

- some guy who took off all of his clothes in the group near ours. WTF!?!

- the 100 or so ppl waitin' in line to use the restroom

after meetin' up with the guys, we headed to shibuya to meet up with kaoru & aki to get something to eat. then we met up with the rest of da crew and went to this one hip hop bar while the others went to go eat something. then we headed over to the club. it was crazy to see: nori & nobu, sachi, ryoko, setocchi and other peeps who i haven't seen in a minute. the show was delayed a bit but they rocked da house. unfortunately, the stage was pretty tiny, so they really couldn't move around as much as @ eggman, but they did the best with what they had. came home, had some mcdonalds and then crashed out.

took da guys to the airport and had a slight glitch in the schedule, but all in all, they were able to get onto their flight. reuben however, had his flight delayed from 1800 to 2100, so b and i stayed there with him & got something to eat. came home, cleaned up a bit and then cal and ben came to my pad to crash, after stayin' for a week @ ken's. they're here til thursday.

so there was 2 earthquakes today. one in da mornin', which really surprised cal & ben and one in the afternoon which they didn't feel.

aite...time to sign off
