last weekend

a little late but here's what happened..

went out to tokyo to meet up with B, rick and steve (works for toyota in michigan but comes to japan 3-4 times a year for work) who came in from nagoya. he showed us his new toy (he always gets something when he comes to japan), a psp. we hung out for a while and then b and i went to daikanyama to meet his friends from sf who were visitin'. we went to every single bathin' ape shop in tokyo. i didn't know all those existed. they have all kinds of different lines/brands. that day, they were releasin' some new shoes, so there was all these phatty lines everywhere. there were even ppl resellin' them on da street. mad craziness yo. we had dinner in omotesando/aoyama @ this place called toriyoshi. they had some grubbin' tebasaki (chicken wings).

after dinner, headed over to schneider's place in omotesando. this guy is big ballin'!!! top floor of a big @$$ 2 story apartment but really should be called a house. it felt koo to just chill and get out of the freezin' cold. we watched some dvds and then b and i headed back out to shibuya to go the ftc party @ the cerulean hotel. had a little trouble at the door but when we finally got in, it was frickin' packed! ftc was debutin' their new skate video which was dope. i was seein' things that are usually only in the tony hawk game bein' done by real people. it was a sight to see. started to feel a bit ill, so we bounced out and i headed home.

the next day was spent doin' laundry, cleanin', vacuumin' and movin' my furniture around. i then went shoppin' for some stuff @ tsudanuma. ended up pickin' up: cleanin' solution for my shaver, 128mb usb keychain and some chocolate for white day. white day is when the guys give back to the girls that gave them chocolate on valentine's day. i also finally found out my shirt size (cm.) but hesitated about buyin' the shirt that day. i also wanted a desktop charger for my cell but the local shops were out of them and the docomo shop was hella crowded. oh well, it's not an essential thing right now, but will be needin' it in the near future. i also saw my pumas again and their still the same price. they're only about $45. came home and did some grocery shoppin' and then had dinner @ ikko. mama hooked up a phatty feast and my big brother, sakamoto, treated me to tenpura/karaage. all in all, it was a got a lot of stuff that's been put on hold kinda day.

last day @ elementary school

so today was my last day @ my elementary school. unfortunately, the 4th grade classes got cancelled due to graduation practice.

durin' the end of each class, i gave a little speech in japanese to the effect of: "though this is my first year teaching at an elementary school, you made it a great experience. this year was really fun. please don't forget the english you learned this year. from april, good luck with english and your other classes. this year's class has come to an end."

at the end of uchiyama sensei's class, all the students paired up and formed arches for me to walk out of the classroom. it was so cute.

in tsutsui sensei's class, all the students came up to me and shook my hand while thankin' me in japanese and even english.

after lunch, i had to go the 4th grade classes' room. they presented me with a goodbye book with all of the students' messages to me. they also made an arch (which was quite long considerin' that there are about 80 students) and i walked thru while shakin' hands and bein' thanked for the past year.

i think teachin' @ an elementary school was a great experience. i got to see how my jhs students became who they are. it's quite interestin' to see the similarities and differences in the american school system. tho, at this moment, i'm not goin' to teach @ an elementary school from april, i think i may request to teach one day a week.
