so...some sad news for japan. a pretty big quake hit niigata prefecture last, last weekend with all kinds of aftershocks. there was a lot of damage to the mountainous part of the prefecture. some relatives of one of my students passed away as a result of the quakes. there was even another quake this morning. i feel really bad for all those people whose houses were destroyed.
in other news, a japanese sdf member has been captured by a terrorist group and is claiming to behead him if the japanese do not pull their sdf out of iraq.
UPDATE: they found the body of the sdf member yesterday
apple releases their color screen photo ipod! hmmm...i think it might be finally time to drop the yen on this one.
had the slandro crew nba fantasy draft on monday. i think i like this team better than my other one. i'm way more balanced on this one and i only overlapped 1 player.
as for school, classes have been ok. my junior high kids have been practicin' for the chorus festival for like 2 hours everday. @ vball practice yesterday, i'm pretty sure that i got my point across about how i was upset on how they did on sunday. we'll see if it registered by the way they practice today.
played baseball with the 9th graders today and went 0-2. my hittin' was pretty bad. need to spend some more time in the cage.
friday, went to yakiniku with: yajima sensei, miura sensei and oshino san. must've ate at least 300g of meat! was in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon. at night, headed over to ikko for a drink and finally got to watch kinpachi sensei. was able to show everyone natsumi-chan. she only had one line but she should be a main character in one of the upcomin' episodes.
- this past weekend -
on sat, had rick and mika's halloween/house warmin'/sean's bday party @ the house. made some gyoza and then met up with lisa @ shibuya. we went to tokyu hands to get a wig (lisa got a hot pink gogo style and i got ohana-chan w/rosy cheeks and hanamizu) and then hopped on the bus to rick's. got there and b was talkin' up a storm. he's been drinkin' there for the past 2 hours cuz he was the first one there. not too many people wore wigs but some peeps did come in costumes like martin (as dracula) and shuko (as a witch w/a bamboo broom). lots of peeps came: the tashiro's (ryan dressed as a dalmation), furutas (even tho yas is 7 months pregnant, she doesn't even look it), mika's sis and mom, lots of mika's friends, and of course ja's from around the world. it was good to see people that i haven't seen since the weddin'. b kept on tellin' lisa and i to have a seat cuz we're wearin' out the floor in front of the snack table. b had lisa laughin' the whole night. it was kinda weak that jt, junji and eugene couldn't make it. another good thing was that misuzu let sean stay and kick it, so around that time, the tequila shots came out. then it starts gettin' blurry. near last train, walked lisa back and then we all continued the party for a bit. after a little nap; sean, b and i head back home.
next day, it was lloyd's across the wide world nba fantasy draft. we had about 8 guys downstairs, 3 guys upstairs. one guy upstairs was on the computer on messenger with about 7 ppl who are selectin' their picks from: hong kong, hawaii, san francisco, la, toronto to name a few. the people downstairs would call in their picks by way of walkie talkie. it was funny to hear al call up the pick cuz he always has something funny to say. since some people couldn't make it, b usually helps draft for them. i went to help out rick (got him some good picks) and then drafted for craig's brother. man, the list he had was totally wack. let's just say half the players weren't even on the list. he had frickin' tj ford as the 6th pg!? wtf!! so i took things into my own hands and drafted him a descent team. his keepers were dirk & melo, so i had to get some solid pg's and big men.
came home and messed around with this new photo software called picasa. it's a pretty dope photo organizer. give it a try. be sure to check out the timeline.
