tuesday; 05.18

started watchin' season 2 of alias. it's just as good as when i first saw it on tv.

wednesday; 05.19

the schedule is all mixed up since the 9th graders are on their school trip.

some lady came up to me in the teachers' room, served me some coffee and introduced herself. kinda strange, but nice. of course, she thought i was japanese, then chinese. she was amazed @ my level of japanese. hee hee. ; b

for lunch, had some ground pork baked into roasted green peppers. yummy!

get paid tomorrow!!! it's bout time!

played some vball. miyamoto san was there and kyoto sensei came thru a bit later. on the last drill, we made them work boy! had them runnin' all over the court. but i think the practice was a good one, since the 9th graders were gone, the younger ones got to get a lot of touches.

headed to ikko for dinner. mama hooked it up, as always.

came home, watched 3 episodes of alias.

thursday; 05.20

i hope the 9th graders had a good time. they come back later today. wonder if the crazy weather dampened their kansai experience.

cooked up some salmon, made salad and got some yakitori & korokke. ummm...yummy.

watced 5 episodes of alias. man, i either forgot a lot of it and/or i missed quite a few episodes cuz it had me on on the edge for the whole time.

friday; 05.21

tgif!!!

man, 2nd typhoon of the season is here and boy is it crazy. the first one was really nothing but this one is a big one. no joke, it rained constantly from 1300 yesterday and it's still rainin' (0830)

omg!!! it's not sunny now!!! guess the typhoon changed paths. so it's gonna be sunny til monday! woot!

well...for lunch, got the oomori (big) bibinpa. also had some grubbin' shrimp shumai. talked with ho-san for a bit, she's the chinese student. i asked her what part of china she was from, when she came to japan. she spoke to me in very, very formal japanese. kinda felt a little strange but it was a good conversation.

ustumi sensei got me an omiyage from kyoto. it's a kyoto speciality.

durin' 6th period, we had an awards ceremony for our sports team (soccer got 2nd place in the city, 3rd place in the prefecture) and our whole track team won awards in a variety of events.

finished up tokyo underground after puttin' it off for some time. a really good book if you want to know bout the yakuza, black market, political and commercial bribes, etc. lots of historical references from the beginnin' of occupation to the present.

mike came by to the house later. he brought some dvds he got from china. watched this one chinese comedy w/stephen chow (the guy from shaolin soccer) called king of comedy. pretty off da wall. go check it out.

watched school of rock too. been tryin' to see that for a while now. it was ok. maybe other people overhyped it for me.

saturday; 05.22: jet talent show

cut my hair and did some laundry. took a nap and then headed out to yokohama for the kawasaki alt talent show. the place was pretty near yokohama stadium. it's a pretty nice facility, judgin' from the outside.

the event was @ club pure. there's another club pure in shibuya. cover was 3500 yen, but that included food and all you can drink! i definitely got my money's worth for only stayin' til 2300. met some new alts as well as some others i already knew.

as for the performances, some were aite. marian and her friends did a really koo dance routine. got that ish on tape.

there was this one girl who did belly dancin'. kinda interestin'.

q crushed da mic (and rocked it as well) but i think the audience probably wasn't feelin' it as much as b, me and some other folks. he even did an encore. i was surprised that for one of da name that tune games between acts, they did miss fat booty!!! q made sure the dj finished the whole track out.

in the end, q got second place while the belly dancer took first. saw hiyori and nanako later and met hiyori's younger sister. they're all so funny.

@ 2300, bounced out and headed home. just missed my last train on shin keisei, so i took a cab.

sunday; 05.23: city vball championships

had to wake up @ around 0630, to meet up with miyamoto san @ mcdonalds. he's drivin' to the vball tournament @ funabashi jhs. on my way to mac's, i see this whole squad of girls @ the bus station. as i got closer, i hear all these kebin da!'s and it was my old school's softball team. i wish i could've stayed to chat with them more but i was runnin' a little late. they were on their way to miyama jhs for a game.

met up with miyamoto and then went to his house to pick up his youngest daughter. then we headed out to the school. we were chillin' for almost 2 hours cuz our school didn't play the first match. there were also the boys vball goin' on @ the same time.

our team won the first game, lost the second to takane (the no.1 ranked team, we're no.2), then beat mita (the school near my apt), then played takane again. if we won, we would have to play them again for the championship based on the w/l records. unfortunately, the beat us again. takane's system is really good. we have a lot of stuff to work on, to get them prepared for the prefecture tournament next month.

afterwards, toita sensei got miyamoto san and i obento which was damn good. we were both starvin' like crazy. it was like 1530, and we didn't really eat any breakfast! after watchin' maebara jhs boys beat takane jhs, miyamoto dropped me off @ home and then i had like 15 min before i had to head out and meet toita sensei @ this one restaurant. miyamoto came about 15 min later.

the restaurant is known for the maguro. from maguro karubi to maguro ramen (don't ask, i didn't try it, but i'm really curious to see what that is). this place is also known for the stir fried cabbage. man, that ish was hella good. also had some matsutake tenpura, iwashi & ninniku yaki. a little while later, a man comes in who looks really, really familiar. then i remembered, it's kocho sensei from my elementary school! he sits down and i introduce him. his wife joins him a little bit later. right as they leave, he orders 2 dishes for us. man, kocho sensei rocks yo!

so we talk about all kinds of things. we spoke briefly on about how the tournament went and what we need to practice. all in all, it was a good experience to hang out with people outside of school, especially if it involves great food and of course, sho chuu.

on my way home, it was sprinklin' a bit, so it took some crazy coordination with me not bein' in the most stable of states and also not bein' in an area that i don't too know well. but i did get home fine and then crashed out.
